Ayam Beirut Edition 11

Ayam Beirut Edition 11 Celebrating the art of film over the course of 10 beautiful cinema days has been a great privilege. We had the pleasure of presenting moving stories from the Arab world to the audience in Beirut, the regions in Lebanon, and the world online during Ayam Beirut edition 11.
Our gratitude goes to the filmmakers, the audience, the supporters and the partners, and the team of Ayam for their contributions & dedication.
“In this place” section of the festival is supported by the Swiss Embassy in Lebanon. This edition was in partnership with Mina Image Center, the Arab Image Foundation, Dar El Nimer, Action for Hope, Ishbilia, Ettijahat, ART, Assafir & Nadi Likol Nas.
Spotlight on Beirut DC presented a handful of the films that Beirut DC takes pride in having accompanied throughout their journey, and which are currently being rewarded in the biggest festivals while still on tour around the world.
Coup de Coeur is a section of films handpicked by people from the Ayam family, chosen because they resonate – or need to resonate – with the here and the now.
In this Place is another section of the festival; that tries to reconstruct our past through cinema and photography, to better understand our present and dare to imagine our future. The films were accompanied by a photo exhibition by actor/photographer Nabil Ismail in Dar El Nimer for Arts and Culture – Beirut. In this same section and as part of the Aflamuna online platform www.aflamuna.online, other Lebanese films were screened online.
In this Place – Reels of Beirut, an exhibition taking place till July 20th at the Mina Image Centre, in the center of the city. This exhibition transports us through cinema and images to the center of the city of Beirut extending from the port to the hotels while going through the shopping center from the years 1935 to 1975.
The festival concluded with music, a concert by Rima Khcheich on June 19 at the Al-Madina Theatre – Hamra. Khcheich presented a selection of classic Egyptian titles previously performed by actresses/singers such as Leila Murad, Hoda Sultan, Sabah, Shadia, and Souad Hosni in musical films between 1935 and 1972.
