Rama Abdi, DOP and an independent director born in 1995, originally Syrian and living in Damascus city. I graduated from Business Management in 2017 and started my journey in filmmaking in 2018. I participated in and made several humanitarian films for several cinematic workshops including Filmmaking and film Impact with Duemila30 in Milan, Italy, under the supervision of several international directors. I have also participated in a documentary filmmaking workshop in Damascus Cinematic Lab “Stories Film” within a group with the producer Jinan Dagher and the director Rania Rafei. I made my first short documentary film called “Fish Dance” in 2022, and it premiered in 7ème Lune festival in Paris and was shown at many other international festivals as well. Also, I’m currently working on cooperative project between filmmakers from Prague, Cairo, London, and myself from Damascus, about the role of green spaces in big cities, highlighting natural hubs in urban spaces across the 4 different cities. I am currently working on continuing and finishing a long documentary film that I started working on in 2022 called “House Number 7”. And now, since 2021, I have been a student at the Higher Institute for Cinematic Art in Syria.
