Set in the summer of 2001, Rock, Paper, Sea follows Maha, an 11-year-old girl who learns that her father, who has been living in Kuwait for a year, will not join for the promised summer holidays. She creates an alternate reality, and with the help of a new friend, she tries to solve the mystery behind his absence.

Randa Ali is a director, writer & producer between Los Angeles and Cairo. In 2024, Her film “Mango” participated in the 46th Clermont-Ferrand Short Film international competition. Her films explore alienation and the desire to connect in a constantly changing world. She graduated from UCLA’s MFA directing program, receiving a full-ride scholarship offered to Arab women filmmakers.

Mona El Husseini is a dancer and visual artist. In 2023, she premiered Creatrix, a dance duet with her mother, and published “Family Portraits” graphic memoir, at the Montréal Arts Interculturels. Mona is interested in how stories are transmitted, shared, and told through the body across generations. She studied International Business and Contemporary Dance at Concordia University and the Cairo Contemporary Dance Center.
