Drowning Fish

A story about one of the last fishermen in Qarun Lake in Fayoum, Egypt. The lake, which has been a key source for fishing since immemorial time, got deteriorated significantly over the last decade; making young fishermen leave to costal cities and old fishermen live in nostalgia for old days.

Amir El Shenawy is an Egyptian director. His first feature-length documentary, “Kilo 64,” was screened in the official competition at the Cairo International Film Festival in 2018. Additionally, his short documentary film “Idris” received special recognition from the jury in the official competition at the Carthage Film Festival in 2022.
