You Will Die At Twenty

In a Sudanese village where deep obsessions about Sufi beliefs, a woman gives birth to a son named Muzamel. A Sufi prophecy determines that the child will die when he turns 20. Muzamel believes in the prophecy himself until a cinematographer from the city comes into his life, opening for him a window onto a world of possibilities.

meet the director

Amjad Abu Alala is a Sudanese filmmaker born and raised in the UAE. He studied media at United Arab Emirates University. As a producer and director, he made numerous short films shown at film festivals, including Tina, Coffee and Orange, and Feathers of the Birds, which is considered to mark the return of cinema in Sudan. His film Studio was supervised during a workshop conducted by Abbas Kiarostami.

Hossam Elouan received his master’s degree in cinema studies from San Francisco State University in 2008. In 2011, he received a postgraduate diploma in international co-production from European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs. He founded his company, Transit Films, in June 2013. Among the films he produced Cactus Flower, Ali, the Goat, and Ibrahim, and Hawi 2010.
