Darwin in Taif

After being reprimanded for discussing controversial topics in lectures, Reem, a biology professor, has to secure her job by completing research on Taif’s elusive baboons. Her only access to them is via Hakeem, an animal rescuer who pulls her into the chaotic rescuing community, putting her principles into practical use.

She is a recipient of the TIFF Filmmaker Lab Share Her Journey Award and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Residency. Her shorts include VHS Tape Replaced (2022) and Hair: The Story of Grass (2018), a selection of Slamdance and Fantastic Fest.
