One Day and 124 Nights

On a cloudy day, Beirut’s airport is bombarded. In the angst-ridden streets, Fadi’s attention is caught by Halima standing on a rock by the turbulent sea making his motorcycle crash into a taxicab. Rafik, the elderly taxi driver tries to run away from the scene of the accident as Fadi loses consciousness. A war erupts in the country and Fadi’s beloved Nada, determined to bring him back, follows him to the edge of unconsciousness.

Amongst Sabine El Chamaa’s films, “Promenade” received a Berlin Today Award grant and premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in 2009. “Un Mardi”, won first prizes in Dubai Film Festival (2010) and at the Festival International de Namur 2011 (FIFF). Sabine’s continued interest in the representation of war led her to pursue a doctorate in London. She received her PhD from Goldsmiths University in July 2014 for a thesis and an accompanying installation entitled “Picturing Live War”.
