AFLAMUNA Documentary Lab :: Iraq
Submission Deadline: February 27, 2025.
We are pleased to announce submissions are now open for the AFLAMUNA Documentary Lab IRAQ, organized by AFLAMUNA in partnership with the Baghdad Film Institute.
Are you developing a short or feature documentary in Iraq?
We invite you to apply to the AFLAMUNA Documentary Lab IRAQ which will train and accompany emerging Iraqi filmmakers and producers to refine and develop their short and feature documentary projects – creatively and practically. We are looking for projects that express their author’s point of view and elevate Iraqi voices.
10 projects by Iraqi filmmakers will be selected for the workshop held on the 12, 13, 14, and 15th of April 2025 at OG in Baghdad. Led by experienced documentary producers, and filmmakers from the Arab Region, the lab will offer invaluable guidance to help bring participating film projects one step closer to the screen.
The lab will equip the participants with skills and insights, and enable them to develop their projects with the input of experts, and, crucially, their peers. The central subjects of the lab will include: “From an idea to a cinematic language”, “Production basics: budgeting, packaging, and fundraising”, and “Impact: social justice through Film – finding unconventional partners and reaching the audiences that matter”.
The director and the producer of the selected film projects will both be invited to attend the lab. The lab will cover transport and accommodation costs for selected participants from Iraqi cities outside of Baghdad.
