Lebanon’s film sector is facing an unprecedented crisis.
Years of economic collapse, followed by war, have brought cinematic activity to a near standstill. Productions are suspended, income has dried up, and film workers across the sector are struggling to keep going.
For many, this is not a temporary disruption. It is a complete loss of income and stability.
AFLAMUNA is launching an Emergency Fund for Lebanese film workers, a one-time, rapid-response grant designed to provide immediate financial support to those most affected.
This fund will not cover all losses. But it is an act of solidarity, meant to offer a critical lifeline at a moment of urgent need, helping people stay present and continue their work despite extremely difficult conditions.
AFLAMUNA has secured an initial $85,500 to launch the fund. This amount is limited relative to the scale of need, but it reflects an urgent commitment to respond now, with what is available. We will continue seeking additional support, and we hope to open further rounds if more resources become available.

Who can apply
This includes:
- Directors, screenwriters, and producers
- Crew members and technicians (camera, sound, editing, art direction, and others)
- Cultural workers engaged in film-related activities
Applicants must be Lebanese nationals or Arab nationals residing in Lebanon and actively working within the Lebanese film sector.

No financial documents or budgets are required.
The initiative particularly encourages proposals that engage diverse audiences, reach communities in major cities and beyond, and provide safe spaces for dialogue following film screenings.
Selection
Applications will be reviewed by an independent jury with knowledge of the Lebanese film sector. The process will be quick and context-sensitive, prioritizing those most affected.

Additional consideration will be given to practitioners in geographically affected areas and to underrepresented and marginalized groups.
